We provide the best tips and strategies to get your much-coveted high bands in the IELTS test.
The IELTS Writing test evaluates your writing skills and aptitude. However, before taking the IELTS writing test, you need to decide if you want to take the General test or an Academic Training module.

UNDERSTANDING THE IELTS WRITING TEST

  • In the IELTS Writing Test, the candidate has one hour to complete two types of writing tasks: the IELTS General test and the Academic test. Each task requires different writing text and styles.
  • In the IELTS Academic module, you will need to describe a diagram or a graph (Task 1) and write an essay (Task 2).
  • In the IELTS General module, you will have to write a letter (Task 1) and an essay (Task 2).
  • For the first task of the Academic writing module, you will have to describe the diagrams/graphs in at least 150 words.
  • For the second task of the Academic writing module, you will be required to write an argument of at least 250 words on the provided writing topics for general IELTS and academic IELTS. Make sure your answer must be clear and well organized.
  • If you decide to take the General writing module, you will have one hour to perform two tasks of at least 150 (Task 1) and 250 (Task 2) words, the same as in the Academic module.

TIPS FOR IELTS WRITING TEST

Show your knowledge of vocabulary to the examiner
In IELTS Writing, you will have to show your vocabulary skills to the examiner. You must consistently check your work to be sure there’s no repeated word in two consecutive statements.
Try writing the IELTS practice test as much as possible
Writing articles on diverse topics every day will be perfect for you. You may also try finishing your work in a limited time so that time constraints won’t be a hurdle on the test day
Try not to use the phrases from the task
If you try to rewrite the entire writing work, the examiner will not include these words. If you don’t follow the given instructions correctly, your 260 words could end up being 230 words.
Review your written work
It is crucial to review your grammatical mistakes before taking the IELTS exam. You can complete an English language course to overcome your English writing mistakes or list your common writing grammatical errors.
