TEF Test
TEF is an internationally recognized qualification certifying a person’s knowledge and skills in French. Established in 1998, it was sponsored by the Chamber de Commerce et de Industry de Paris (CCIP). The validity of the certificate is five years.

- Reading comprehension: It contains 50 questions (60 minutes)
- Vocabulary and structure: It contains 40 questions (30 minutes)
- Speaking skills: It contains two topics (15 minutes)
- Writing skills: It contains two topics (60 minutes)
Why Take TEF French Language Test
You can take TEF to certify your French level formally. It is also accepted as part of the requirements for admission to school or university, acquiring French or Swiss nationality, obtaining a French residency card, immigrating to Canada and acquiring Canadian citizenship, or immigrating to Quebec.
The purpose of the TEF French Language test is to assess your French language skills on a seven-level scale, from level 0 (basic skills) to level 6 (advanced skills) (complete skills). The eligibility criteria A1 to C2 are based on the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and the 12 Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB).
